Letterboxing? What is it? Check out our adventures..

What is Letterboxing?

Letterboxing is an intriguing pastime combining artistic ability with "treasure-hunts" in parks, forests, and cities around the world. Participants seek out hidden letterboxes by cracking codes and following clues. The prize: a miniature piece of art known as a rubber stamp—usually unique, hand-carved creations.

Letterboxers stamp their discoveries in a personal journal, then use their own rubber stamp, called a signature stamp, by stamping it into the logbook found with the letterbox, perhaps writing a note about the weather or their adventures in finding the letterbox.

I had a friend tell me about this and thought I would check out the links never even dreamed there would be anything that close to us.

Unknown to use there where 9 boxes just in our town.

So we started out Friday the 4th of July and found our first few boxes then we were hooked.

So we worked on the rest of the local ones on Saturday.
Sunday we took a short trip to TN.

Then we spent yesterday afternoon introducing my mom to letterboxing.

This was a really old cemetery at the edge of Tn.
It holds the grave site of Thomas Kilgore a revolution war veteran.
